trimming the tree
it seems each year that mikey and i get together, our christmas tree gets smaller and smaller. yeah, sure i don’t have a huge place, but that never stopped me from getting a seven foot tree each year. last year’s was six and half. this year…eh, i’m guessing just under six. AND because mikey has a tradition of getting me an ornament each year (the first was an ice cream cone, the second was a pair of boxer shorts with paw prints on them, and this years was a little glass house), my traditional theme is going down the flusher. now, over the years, yes, i have gotten delia a new ornament, but usually they’ve matched in color or texture or something with my theme of snowmen and blue and silver. there’s the two legged dog (when i bought it, it had three legs–one had broke off–and then once i had it at home, i broke another leg, but i just can’t bear to toss it), there’s her best in show ornament and one my mom made that holds lil dog biscuits.
am i getting soft? probably. but i did mention to mikey that should we ever get a bigger place we can get two trees: his FAKE one with keepsake ornaments in one room and my REAL one with a theme in the room that everyone will see. i’m able to find the strength to compromise on it for now. but speaking of fake trees, i was watching HGTV, one of the decorating specials, and the designer put up a black (albeit fake) christmas tree which was really really cool. i would totally do that. in a third room.
i’ve been so busy with papers and projects the last few weeks. i have one due tomorrow which is finished (yay) and then a big one due next week. then i have like a three week break or so until spring semester starts. time is flyin’ by.
i think when the dust settles, i’ll do my pop culture countdowns. everyone loves that.
