nom noms
so lets’ see how i did. overall i’m pretty disappointed with the oscar nominations announced at 838 this morning. yes, i got up for them. i don’t think the oscars are any kind of factor as to what films will stand the test of time and what people will remember and watch fifty years from now. the two biggest critical/commercial/cultural hits of the year–Wall e and The Dark Knight–were totally shafted and any fool knows that those will be remembered as the best films of 2008. anyway, let’s see how i did:
best supporting actress i was 4/5. not bad.
best supporting actor i was 4/5. michael shannon for Rev Road is very deserving and the films (surprise!) only major nom.
best actress i was sort of 4/5. i incorrectly guessed the far more deserving Sally Hawkins over Angelina Jolie and was correct on Kate Winslet but for the wrong film: she was nommed for The Reader, not Rev Road.
best actor i was 4/5. eastwood got the shaft.
and for best picture i was 4/5. The Reader surprised everyone with a nom nom in this category. should have been either the Dark Knight or Wall e. Seriously, academy, y’all a bunch of damn fools.
