active senior sunday and sunburn on my shoulders

finally no rain! although glancing outside now i see some dark clouds rolling in. after a long afternoon in the sun, i’m pretty okay with a thunderstorm as i have no plans to go back outside until later tonight when i walk the dog.

last night, after going to After the Garden playing in the backroom at Miss Pixies on 14th–quite an entertaining show/atmosphere–mikey and i met up with ol’ scotty at busboy’s and poets, a place i will not be returning to at night as the crowd is just ridiculous and the bartenders terrible. then we went further down U st to Nellie’s for some drinks with friends, who eventually all left for one of two reasons: heading over to Town, where i had no desire to go, or getting kicked out because of their involvement in some drunken fight. yes, a friend of a friend was responsible for putting someone’s head through a window upstairs. at first, when i saw what was happening, i ran over to help break it up, but then thought, wait i don’t work here, i barely know the guy, so eh, they’re on their own. no one was seriously hurt at all, but as per our policy at jrs, anyone involved in a fight is asked to leave. if you can’t act like an adult, then, uh, yes, you should be made to leave regardless of who started it. basically it was one drunk person being retarded to another drunk person, and i’m like, look, i deal with this all the time, not on my day off, not tonight.

after all that died down, we had one more round with brian and gerardo and then went home.

today, since it actually seemed warm and sunny (for the most part) we joined kai, irwin and timtation for some tennis and here are my thoughts on that: too many people playing (two vs two with one rotating in) and one person not even knowing how to hold a racquet…which sort of takes the fun out it, because you don’t want to be like, oh hey, let me show you how to do this because it might embarrass them. but then, if you don’t then they’re terrible and you don’t want the ball to come anywhere near them because it just kills the momentum of the point. plus, i’m someone that plays to the level of those i’m playing with. so if i’m playing clay or kai or tim, who are better than me or at least more consistent, i think i play better. but get some special olympian in there and i play terrible. i had no problem showing mikey some basic skills and he played great. just wish others would share those basic skills with their others…but i think, also, the more you play, the more you can figure it out on your own, so by the end of our time on the court, things were looking better. not good. but better and i’m sure next time will be too.

after surrendering the court, we decided to head out to cameron run for some putt putt. this is a course that we have played many many times and it’s unfortunate that there are no better putt putt courses close to the dc because all we have is this one, which is covered with goose shit, and that ghetto one at haynes point which really should just be demolished and redone. while everyone was racking up hole in ones and fives, i stayed within the two to three strokes per hole and turns out i won by five strokes. i didn’t think i’d win but i guess since i was more consistent, it paid in the end. and i only blew up once when i was distracted and mishit the ball but was then denied a redo even though we had previously given a redo to someone else. and i got a little angry. and yelled. but i’m just competitive and think that if we do it for one person, then we have to do it for everyone. but then i remembered that people don’t like to play with me because i’m too intense and that unless i wanted to ruin the fun for everyone, i’d better just simmer down now and let it go. had i not won the match, i’m sure i’d still be fuming.

i get to register for classes tomorrow! i’m very excited.
