saturday at the pool

lounged by the pool today. no, not that cruisey crusty spandex lovin’ one down by P st. beach. i hate that pool, you know the one, where bathing suits run the gamut from too tight and too small and too gay on some gays to those fat kids wearing t-shirts and cargo shorts as swimwear. they tell you it’s because they don’t want to get sunburned, but we all know it’s because they are ashamed of their bodies. we made fun of those kids when we were little. a wet t-shirt doesn’t hide the fat the way a dry one will.

today, mikey and i met doug (”i woke up with a spoon full of peanut butter on my chest”) and patrick (”i lost my phone and i woke up in the backseat of my jeep at 6 am.”) up at the Georgia Ave pool across from howard university so they could nurse themselves back from the hangover ledge with some sun and cool water.

what i like about this pool is that the lifeguards actually seemed to be paying attention to what was going on in the pool, for the most part disciplined any rule breaking children, and i saw them at least skim the pool one go round and perform a chemical reading.

on a side note, when i was a lifeguard, we used to test the chemical levels of the pool every hour, and if we weren’t in the chair, we were cleaning the deck, scrubbing the scumline and the diving boards, or cleaning the areas surrounding the pool but outside the fence.

but woodbridge ain’t dc.

the lifeguards even provided a soundtrack for our day at the pool and it consisted of rap rap rap rap rap–an hour of michael jackson (watching some of the kids dance to Thriller was actually pretty cute)–rap rap rap rap rap. seriously. i think i’m pretty hip to music, but i have never heard any of these songs before ever (not even when bernie vjs at the bar) and was it just me or did they sound all the same and i could have sworn we were just listening to the same song on loop.

tonight it’s off to Mon Ami Gabi for dinner. i went to the chicago one for legally fawn’s bachelorette partypicture here:

this is us outside the restaurant. but i came to learn that there is one in bethesda, so that’s where we are off to tonight for a steak roquefort, some whipped cauliflower and some num num french onion soup!
