some retarded pumpkins in the spirit of halloween
so although i consider myself somewhat to be an above average artist, i can not carve pumkins. nor take pictures of them at night. or anything at night really. i have no idea how my camera works.
on monday night, mikey and i carved our pumpkins with just about every kitchen utensil i own since i was too lazy to go buy a new pumpkin carving kit and too lazy to go dig around for the one i bought last year that i’m pretty sure i threw away, but there’s always the chance that i didn’t.
like halloween costumes, i’ve never been good at creating a jack-o-lantern. i don’t know if it’s that by the time i gut it, i’m just so sore and tired and bored that i really just want to get the whole thing over with or if i know that carving them quickens their demise and that makes me sad. i’d rather look at a whole pumpkin on the balcony for a month instead of waiting a week and disposing of a hacked up pumpkin shell that is slowly caving in on itself and the decomposing bottom falls out when i pick it up.
anyway, here’s a picture of two of the pumpkins:
mikey carved the lil one on the left and it makes me think of an extremely pissed off kirby when he does his speciality move in super smash bros. my masterpiece over there on the right is supposed to be the letter D (for delia, of course) followed by her paw print which really looks more like…uh…not a paw print.
this is the third and final pumpkin and i think by this point i was just pretty much over the whole process and the holiday itself. maybe i just started too early. it’s like when i start listening to 97.1 WASH FM’s 24/7 christmas music programing beginning on like, november 1, and by december 1 i’m like, oh my god, i fuckin’ can’t stand christmas anymore!
or maybe there’s some bitter resentment since mikey doesn’t like horror films and won’t let me watch ANY even though every channel is playing non-stop scary movies in the spirit of the holiday. seriously, it was all i could do to get him to let me watch half of Poltergeist on ABC Family channel–yes, ABC Family–where the movie was censored to within an inch of it’s life. although in his defense he did let me watch Hocus Pocus. please note sarcasm.
