a matt and mikey merry christmas
i’ve been planning my top tens and have basically forgotten about what all else i’ve done this month. so as i said before mikey and i picked out our tree and upon decoration it looks like this:
and it’s pretty and you can see the ridiculous amount of lights adorning my balcony. no one in my building seems to decorate their balconies which means either they are complete christmas assholes or it’s against condo policy but no one said anything to me last year so i will leave them up. so we–i mean, i–decorated the tree and mikey watched made for tv christmas movies on fa-la-la-la lifetime, which by the way, is the real reason i get excited about christmas. then we had some people over, the usual suspects, for some drinks and dessert and merriment.oh, the dessert. so i have this thing for making cool whip cakes and while the last one was pretty gross, this one…this one is good. passed down to me from my mom’s friend connie who either made it up or got it out of a goodhousekeeping magazine, i hit this one out of the park. it’s real simple and i’ll share it with you now:layer a baking dish with unwrapped (obvi) ice cream sandwiches. you may have to do some creative cutting to cover the entire bottom, but on the bright side you get to stuff your face with the leftover pieces. then you add one half of one tub of cool whip and smooth it out to cover the ice cream sandwiches. then you drizzle some caramel sauce on top of the that…then you add another layer of ice cream sandwiches, and i got crazy and used chocolate ice cream sandwiches (chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla), then finished off with another layer of cool whip. THEN i got even crazier and drizzled magic shell on top but you could use sprinkles or shaved chocolate or hersheys. but i like the crunch of magic shell plus nothing says white trash like magic shell. oh, alright, so do ice cream sandwiches and cool whip. so after the magic shell, i then drizzled on more caramel. it’s my new signature dessert and it takes just like a carvel ice cream cake.before our guests arrived, however, we needed a christmas portrait and it looks like this:
we look like the fuckin’ hardy boys. and NO we are not wearing matching zip sweater things. they are from two different stores and are two different colors. i never realized mikey was so much taller than me. i wanted to do a family portrait with the poocheroo thrown in but i couldn’t get her to calm down enough to sit still and wait for the timer on the camera. so instead i had mikey pin her down and took a photo of just the two of them and it looks like this:
two of these are my favorite things, but i bet you can’t tell which two! yes! that’s right! candles and christmas trees! oh fine, mikey and the christmas tree. argh, i can’t possibly pick a favorite! it’s a three way tie for first with candles coming in a close second.

That dessert is SO good; however, you left out the health bar crumbles!!!! That is the best part! I will have to try it with the magic shell…my favorite!
