a diamond in the rough
so i feel like this weekend was a complete blur. or maybe i just slept my way through the whole thing.
randomly, i decided to see if the holes in my ears were still there. many many years ago, i went through a piercing phase and i had two holes in each ear. the second holes, i’m thinking, have closed up because i didn’t wear earrings in them for very long, but the first holes should still be there. so i bought some diamond studs from itshot.com. as you can see, this is one classy website. i think that “its hot” means that one, all these diamonds are stolen or two, a lot of africans died obtaining them. which is sad and i hope that it’s the former cause that will only increase my street cred. most of the jewelry on this site–which claims to sell to a large (i’m assuming) uh urban clientel–is mucho expensive and i didn’t want to spend all sorts of money on something i’d wear for a week and then tire of…so i got a cheap set of diamond stud earrings which, i think, make me look pretty cool. but as a 31 year old, i probably shouldn’t be thinking that.
my quote of the weekend is from a little (no need to say it really) black girl in the toy aisle at target. she was holding one of those stuffed animals where if you squeeze it’s hand it will talk or purr or growl or something and on the box it usually says “TRY ME!”. we only caught this as we walked by…but it’s classic.
“This thing be talkin’ ’bout “try me”!”
i love her. i think when she grows up, she’ll make a great reality show contestant on vh1.
